You've lost the trail - For Luke Crain
Oct. 2nd, 2019 11:52 pmFor all it's oddities and dangers, Darrow is truly becoming home for Alex. Living by the beach with Michael as they actually make friends they haven't known since high school and younger, setting up their apartment, and they've even got a truck now - as well as most of Michael's space ship but that's another story. And now there's a puppy as well. They're truly setting up a home and a family and it reminds Alex that he's slacked on a few things he's meant to do. Not going to the hairdresser to get all the long hair hacked off, or shaving which he's gotten indifferent on sometimes as if to flaunt that he's no longer in the military, but to see Luke and see how he's doing and deliver a gift.
So gathering up the laptop he put together for the kid and a few other things he slides into the messenger bag, he grabs the puppy and her leash, and heads for the Home. He knows Michael is likely to give him hell for being out all day on his leg, but to Alex it's worth it to see Luke and help him out. Including stopping on the way to grab a pizza and a couple of sodas.
Hoping to catch things at the end of the day when he might be coming back from classes, and hoping no one runs him off for seeming like a creepster with a puppy and junk food, trying to lure a kid closer. Damn, when he thinks about it like that, it seems awful, but he's hoping Luke will vouch for him. If he doesn't see him after a bit, he'll head inside, dog and pizza and all, and ask for him and hope he's not mugged.
